Recruitment has been temporarily closed until the 21th of June, with the exception of new members brought in by our present player base. This does not include alts of current players, which are still welcome to join. Valandrea and I came to this decision based both on the fact that we currently have a healthy and active player base, and the fact that I will be busy with exams up until the 21th, leaving Valandrea with many of the officer tasks. Therefore, we think it best to focus on integrating our new members, whilst contiuning to spark RP among our current guild members.

- Story Update 53

osWvxBn.png

Context:

Based on intelligence gained from the captive Knight - 'The Warden' - recovered on Tatooine (Story Update 51,) the Directive learns of Slithan's location; the dead world Nathema. With the Wrath still undergoing repairs, the Harrower-class dreadnought Jiass'jen is prepared to ferry Darth Iradox's forces, and serve as a heavily armed warning to anyone they may find there. Given Slithan's history with the Directive (Story Update 1-10,) Iradox himself leads the mission.

Day 1 Summary:
Full Briefing

Aware of the void hanging over Nathema like a thick fog, choking any attempts at wielding the Force, the Directive made sure to come prepared: The Scepter of Sungsa-lek offered a means of storing and utilizing an external source of Force energy (Story Update 47-48,) which is why the Directive had ventured to Oricon days prior in order to fill it with dark side energy (Story Update 52.) In addition, Lord Praxzia had created a series of Sith amulets that would enable the Sith to draw power directly from the scepter despite not wielding it, thus enabling them to use the Force despite the void. However, this method was not without its shortcomings, as the amulets experienced some trouble functioning when the team set foot on Nathema, and the power stored within the scepter was limited.

Making their way through the wasteland, it soon became evident that the nature of the planet itself constituted a greater threat than any of the zealots or twisted wildlife that resided on there; the void closed in around the team, choking their resolve and testing their resilience.

Alas, the presence of Slithan stood out like a great pyre in the depth of night; his corruptive presence stretching out in spite of the void, attempting to hamper the Sith even as they approached his location. Eventually this brought them to a temple of Zakuulan design, where a line of silent black clad zealots blocked their paths, yellow lightsabers at hand.

At the same time, word came in from the Jiass'jen, letting the ground team know that Eternal Empire ships had emerged from hyperspace, urging the team to hurry. Realizing that time was of the essence, the Sith engaged these mute guardians who could channel the Force despite the void. The battle was fierce but by drawing power from the scepter, the Directive team managed to overcome the Zealots of Nathema.

With fighters now battling in the sky, the team broke down the doors to the temple and rushed inside. Here they came face-to-face with an incorporeal being consisting of twisted dark side energy, its very presence radiating a malice that pushed the void of Nathema away from its immediate proximity - Slithan.

It was restrained however, held captive in a chamber created specifically for the purpose of holding a Force entity, similar in design to that once used by the late Darth Tvarkan (Story Update 24.) And despite the void lacking the power to fully suppress the entity, it did weaken Slithan substantially and visible caused him immense suffering, to the point that the malignant spirit radiated a single-minded need to escape by any means, even obliteration.

With desperate pleas to hurry sounding from the Jiass'jen, the Directive turned the Scepter of Sungsa-lek against Slithan, attempting to drain his power into the artifact. Despite being constructed to store an immense amount of dark side energy, the scepter began to tremble in the Dark Lord's grip. Nonetheless, the procedure was successful; with the void of Nathema already pressing against Slithan, the siphoning of his power proved sufficient to break entity's hold on the physical realm, thus finally banishing him to Chaos.

Alas, the obliteration of the Directive's oldest foe proved a short-lived victory: In the sky, the Jiass'jen blew into a thousand pieces that feel into the atmosphere like a multitude of burning mentors. The Directive had lost their harrower, leaving them stranded and exposed to orbital bombardment. To make matters worse, the Scepter of Sungsa-Lek proved incapable of containing Slithan's energy. A flash of precognition saved the Dark Lord's life, enabling him to discard the scepter before it exploded. The subsequent shockwave hurled the Sith backwards, throwing them to the ground like so many ragdolls. With the scepter gone, they were now cut off from their source of power, leaving them exposed to the void of Nathema...
