Jedi Hunt - First Blood
- Story Update 64

Context:

NVnhLhZ.png

The strike team approached Ord Ferros on a neutral shuttle with proper clearance codes, courtesy of their agents on the planet. And after a concise briefing, the team was ready to descent from the shuttle ramp and rain death down upon their quarry.

They came across the Jedi upon entering the temple, where the cowardly lightsiders were already retreating with multiple younglings.

The strike team gave chase but the Jedi split up, some acting as a diversion while the rest made for their shuttle with the younglings. Force to adapt, some of the strike team turned to face the Jedi while others gave chase. In the end, both the Jedi and strike teams were split up across the temple ruins, each facing at least one opponent.

The chase concluded with Lord Dar and Saber Quagrivai catching up with the last Jedi just before they could board their shuttle.

Jedi and Sith locked blades in deadly combat, the former driven by their duty to protect the younglings in their care, the latter by a need to eradicate their ancient foe - or rip the profits of a work well executed, in case of the Blackscar mercenaries.

In the end, rage incinerated serenity, and the Jedi feel to the crimson blades of their opponents. Subsequently, Lord Dar made the call to execute the younglings rather than shipping them off to Korriban, wishing to send a clear message to any other Jedi in hiding; willing them to feel despair.

The Directive's crusade against the self-exiled Jedi's had begun; first blood had been drawn... In addition, Quagrivai looted a coin engraved with a peculiar symbol from one of the corpses:

Aftermath: Recovery & Future Plans
- Story Update 63

4OWnLwv.png

The victory against the Eternal Empire proved bittersweet: The Sith Empire sustained considerable damage in the last days of the war, and the Eternal Alliance - formerly Outlander Alliance - rose as the only true victor of the conflict. The Directive was not exempt from the hardship, having lost several of their ships and 74% of their standing military during the Siege of Xartun (Story Update 62).

It was time to rebuild, and the Directive set to doing so under the leadership of Darth Iradox and Lord Payne, the Dark Lord's newly anointed Shadow Hand. As the first order of business the logistical issues had to be handled; the Directive had to repair their ships, sort out the damage caused on Xartun and rebuild their military. However, these tasks presented numerous challenges. Firstly, countless Imperial ships had sustained extensive damage towards the end of the war, not least during the Eternal Fleet's attack on Dromund Kaas, which made expedient repair heavily contested - the Empire having limited shipyards and raw materials at its disposal. On the other hand, the Empire's military had suffered from decades of war and mass defection to the Outlander Alliance, resulting in experienced Imperial officers becoming an increasingly rare commodity.

To solve the latter issue, the Dark Lord compiled a list of non-human Junior Officers in the Imperial military - their presence a courtesy of the late Darth Marr's inclusion program - with track records, who seemed to have been held back from promotions due to prejudice. Unlike many inexperienced human officers, these aliens were not being contested, which the Directive intended to take advantage of. This - pared with Lord Ashaan's plans to reform the power bases approach to military encounters - held promise of an expedient rebuilding, and Iradox left the task in Ashaan's hands, while he moved on to the next task at hand. Of course the decision to promote non-humans were encountered with some political backlash, but the Directive's stance was made clear in no uncertain terms.

With the heavy demand on ship repairs, spots at shipyards had become heavily contested, forcing the Directive to manoeuvre the political climate of Dromund Kaas. Fortunately, Lord Payne had ensured that space debris had been recovered after the space battle above Xartun, providing the Directive with a means of compensating for the raw materials necessary to repair their ships (logistic assignments). And while Payne sought for a means of repairing his and Lord Varon's remaining Terminuses, the Dark Lord explored other avenues for repairing Atrum's Wrath and the Scythe of Nox. Specifically, he was attempting to assert political pressure to acquire a spot on the shipyard of Bretta (Political Assignments), while also trying to solve the enigma of Xartun and Corgon II being left exposed once the Directive's ships were docked for repairs – who could they trust to guard their territory now that their temporary alliance with Darth Libertas had been broken?

Darth Iradox and Lord Wazyra Kizwa, the Directive's ambassador in the Infernal Enclave.

The answers presented themselves in the form of Lord Kizwa, the Directive's ambassador in the Infernal Enclave, and Trakaton Kalkoran, apprentice to Darth Horuset. Apparently, the Enclave had partly recovered from the loss of their former leader, and their new leader, Darth Crypteia, was prepared to lend ships in the defence of Xartun and Corgon II in addition to offering a spot at the Kread 44 shipyard.

Apprentice Hirak and Trakaton from House Horuset.

In regards to Trakaton, the apprentice approached Darth Iradox about the prospect of arranging a marriage between himself and Aregra Nyâsh, one of the Dark Lord's biological daughters. Originally the Iradox was inclined to decline the offer out of hand, Trakaton being but a meagre apprentice whose house had been destroyed. Still, the young pureblood proved persistent and had made an immense effort to rebuild what he had lost - much like Iradox in his own youth. Pausing to reconsider, the Dark Lord instead decided to task the apprentice with a seemingly impossible task; to acquire repair spot for one of the Directive's ship at a shipyard, despite the fact that several Sith lords and Moffs were currently struggling for those very same spots. Only Trakaton and his fellow apprentice, Hirak, proved more resourceful than Iradox had anticipated, and in the course of only two weeks another shipyard lined up to repair meet the Directive's demand. Thus the Directive found itself with four ships undergoing repairs at just as many shipyards, meaning that all they had to do now was to wait

Temporarily stationing their remaining military on Xartun and Corgon II, the Sith and special personal of the Directive returned to the Nyâsh Estate in Kaas City, which had been fortunate enough to survive relatively unscathed from Eternal Fleet's bombardment; relatively in the sense that a stray turbo-laser had blown a hole in the sewer below the building, providing Gizkas with a way in! Thus the Directive returned to Dromund Kaas to find their estate overrun with rapidly multiplying pests...

While the Acolytes, Sabers and cleaning personal struggled with repelling the invaders, the Sith lords were free to pursue projects that had fallen into the background due to the war. For instance, the Dark Lord finally had time to follow up on a joined operation he had promised to assist Darth Tekthon with; the theft of The Hand of Nakral, a special dark side imbued crystal, from the museum of Ord Ferros, along with various other items of interest. Although admittedly, Iradox's primary interest was centred around the Jedi who had exiled themselves on the planet. With the war over, he intended to take advantage of the still fractured nature of the Jedi order to exterminate as many of them as possible before they could rejoin the Republic. After all, the Jedi was, and had always been, the true enemy of the Sith. It was high time to initiate another crusade...

In wake of the war against the Eternal Empire and the destruction wreaked upon Kaas City by the Eternal Fleet, insistent tales of heroism spreads across the holo-news. One story that continues to pop up is the Siege of Xartun. It is a tale of an industrial world at the borders of Imperial space that was attacked by the Eternal Fleet, but proved steadfast enough to repel the invaders!

Of course reality is more complex and multiple factors are omitted from the propaganda: That it was only a small fraction of the Eternal Fleet; that the defenders received aid from multiple fronts; that the fleet was actually recalled to join the main fleet in its assault against Odessen; the extensive casualty list and sheer magnitude of urban destruction.

No, instead the Siege of Xartun has been carefully crafted into something that might induce a sense of patriotism and hope in these trying times: If a couple of Imperials and Sith could hold their ground against such insurmountable odds, the Sith Empire can rise from its ashes and reclaim its rightful place in the Galaxy!

Recruitment has been temporarily closed until the 21th of June, with the exception of new members brought in by our present player base. This does not include alts of current players, which are still welcome to join. Valandrea and I came to this decision based both on the fact that we currently have a healthy and active player base, and the fact that I will be busy with exams up until the 21th, leaving Valandrea with many of the officer tasks. Therefore, we think it best to focus on integrating our new members, whilst contiuning to spark RP among our current guild members.
